Welcome New Minister

We are pleased to announce that Rev. David Phillips has accepted the call to join the clergy staff of CCOVB to become the new Minister of Community Life and Mission. His arrival will conclude the re-building of our clergy staff team. Rev. Phillips will be replacing Bob Lawton, our Director of Missions, who has served our church so effectively and is now retiring. Rev. Phillips will oversee our mission program while also working closely with the younger families of our church whose children take part in our children’s and youth programs.

Rev. Phillips grew up in Aiken, South Carolina, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina. He received his Master of Divinity degree through studies at Southern Seminary and the Baptist Seminary at Richmond. He served churches in Kentucky and Virginia before being called to Daytona to be Pastor of Central Baptist Church. Most recently Rev. Phillips was founding Pastor of Celebration Christian Church in Daytona. He will be bringing us a wealth of experience in mission and ministry.

Rev. Phillips is married to Sonja, also an ordained minister, currently working in the social work field. They have one child, Tyler, who will be entering the 9^th grade in the fall.
