NAEYC Accreditation

NAEYC Accreditation

In December 2007, Community Preschool was congratulated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for achieving accreditation. The Preschool had been accredited under the NAEYC’s old standards for many years, but was one of the first programs in the country to earn accreditation under the newly adopted, more stringent standards.

NAEYC is a leading organization of early childhood professionals, and is recognized as the highest mark of quality in early childhood education. The accreditation lasts for five years and reflects the latest research and best practices in early-childhood education and development. Currently only 8% of all childcare centers in the United States has earned NAEYC accreditation, and as of November 2007, only 19 programs in the state of Florida has earned accreditation under NAEYC’s new standards.

The new NAEYC accreditation system raises the bar for preschools, child care centers and other early childhood programs,” said Dr. Mark Ginsberg, Executive Director of NAEYC. “NAEYC accreditation is a sign that a program is a leader in a national effort to invest in high-quality early childhood education and helps give all children a better start.” For more information regarding NAEYC, please visit their website at: www.rightchoiceforkids.org.
