Biography
As our Minister for Mission and Adult Education, Rev. Johnson serves as the staff coordinator of our mission outreach, working to connect our congregation with mission opportunities to serve locally, nationally, and throughout the world. His connections in the community serve as a liaison between Community Church and the various mission agencies we support. As the minister for adult education, David oversees faith formation programs intended to deepen our faith, facilitate companionship on the journey of life, and give us courage to live as Jesus lived. Rev. Johnson also shares in the worship life of the church, as well as the pastoral care we provide for our parishioners through visitation, the Called to Care ministry, weddings, and memorials.
Rev. Johnson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, received his BA from Hope College, a Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and studied social psychology at Boston College. Before coming here, Rev. Johnson worked with Young Life in St. Joseph, Michigan, Horizons Outdoor Programs in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and has served churches in Swampscott, MA, and Mokena, IL. In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing with his wife, Elizabeth.
